As a U of M employee, I can take classes for free. 2 max at a time, but I wouldn’t really do that anyway.
I didn’t take anything last spring semester because I had just graduated in Dec and wanted to take it easy, but now I refuse to let myself off the hook. I’ve been staring at the course catalog all morning and I can’t decide what to take.
The strongest contender right now is just taking econ, because I never had time for it in undergrad but loved The Economist. The 2nd strongest is a forestry course on identifying trees.
Soooo I’m a little aimless. I just like school. Suggestions? Recommendations?
(And no, I don’t have any specific career or graduate ambitions to speak of right now. )

your best choice is micro if you can brave the math, it’s much better than macro (which today is really just aggregated micro anyway)
or take wines and vines!
or judo, Tom Crone is awesome

I think I can brave plane geometry and advanced algebra (at least that’s what the course catalog says you need). Mostly I’d like to just have a better working knowledge of it. Do YOU think I can brave the math? I guess I would have Zach around to teach me things I forgot.

I’m not sure how things are taught at the U but I bet you could manage the intro Micro courses, they make all the business majors take it
no knock on the Carlson grads here, you’re both plenty smart but I have the idea that many of your classmates were not mathematical vunderkinds

The MIS and Finance guys are actually pretty sharp.
The rest, not so much.
Have I told you about my Kindle yet?

Thanks, Cam.
I will also add that CSOM classes, in general, are insanely easy. There are a couple gems, but otherwise it’s mostly fluff. It’s getting in that’s hard. :)

I should look into taking classes too. I’d suggest we take a class together but our undergrad degree backgrounds differ too much.. Unless you want to take Judo!

Hmm… if you can take two classes at a time for free, would you be able to earn a degree in eight years for free? I mean, it’d only be a bachelor’s degree, and it probably wouldn’t be practical as professional development, but you could get some sort of lit crit or american history thing.
