In continuation, as requested, from the other thread:
Am I really having this conversation with the same man who a year and a half ago argued, in my own apartment, until he was blue in the face, that the Farm Bill is essential policy?
That is a complete mis-characterization of the way that conversation went, as I recall… but the point is, I suppose, moot.
If you want to come up with a working policy, in other words, stop looking at white and black hats and instead consider the effect that your policy will actually have.
Nope… my goal was to react to your statement:
There’s your efficient government, suckers
The argument I make is less about what the policy should be (I agree that the government should not be blowing taxpayer money on bail-outs, I couldn’t agree more!), and more about your willingness to place blame indiscriminately (and, at least in your initial statement, solely) at the feet of government. I can only ascribe that to a general willingness to vilify government regardless and to the exclusion of whoever else might actually be to blame. Which is ideological and dogmatic—much like creationism. :-P
